Ekantha Seva (also spelled Ekanta Seva) is the final ritual of the day at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). The word “Ekantha” means “solitude” or “private” in Sanskrit. This is the last service performed before the Lord goes to sleep for the night. During this seva, the deity is put to bed with special rituals and lullabies. It is a very peaceful and intimate ceremony that marks the end of the day’s worship at the temple.

Ekantha Seva is performed every day of the year – Monday through Sunday. It is the concluding ritual of the daily temple schedule. The seva takes place at 01:30 hrs (1:30 AM) in the early morning hours. Before this seva, there is a 30-minute preparation period from 01:00 to 01:30 hrs.
Note: On Fridays, the timing is slightly different at 22:30 hrs (10:30 PM) due to the special Friday Abhishekam rituals that extend late into the night.

- Offline booking only: Tickets are issued at the Vijaya Bank counter at Tirumala
- First-come-first-serve basis: No advance reservation is available
- Same-day booking: Tickets are usually issued one day in advance or on the same day
- No online booking: Unlike other sevas, Ekantha Seva does not have online reservation
- Entry through: Vaikuntam Queue Complex
Alternative method: Some devotees can get tickets through the Arjitham Office by sending Demand Drafts in advance, but this is subject to availability and not guaranteed.
What Happens During Ekantha Seva?
The Ekantha Seva ritual follows this procedure:
- Preparation (01:00 – 01:30 hrs): Priests clean the sanctum and prepare the deity for sleep
- Suddhi: Final purification rituals are performed
- Deity Preparation: The Lord is dressed in simple night clothes
- Lullabies: Priests sing special lullabies (called “Tala” or “Lali”) to put the Lord to sleep
- Offerings: Light offerings like milk, fruits, and sweets are made
- Closing: The sanctum is closed for the night after the seva
- Sleep: The Lord is considered to be sleeping until the next morning’s Suprabhatam at 2:30 AM
This seva is very peaceful and creates a divine atmosphere as it marks the end of the day’s worship.
Rules and Dress Code
All devotees must follow these strict rules:
Dress Code:
- Men: Dhoti with upper cloth or kurta-pyjama (traditional Indian dress)
- Women: Saree, salwar kameez, or other modest Indian attire
Important Rules:
- Reporting time: Must report by 01:00 AM (30 minutes before seva)
- No electronics: Mobile phones, cameras, and smart watches are strictly prohibited inside the temple
- ID proof: Original government-issued photo ID is mandatory
- Age limit: Generally 18-60 years for seva participation

Special Friday Timing
On Fridays, Ekantha Seva has a different schedule due to the special Abhishekam ritual: Table
| Friday Schedule | Time |
|---|---|
| Abhishekam | 04:30 – 06:00 hrs |
| Regular Friday rituals | Throughout the day |
| Evening Darshanam | 21:00 – 22:00 hrs |
| Suddhi and preparation | 22:00 – 22:30 hrs |
| Ekantha Seva | 22:30 hrs (10:30 PM) |
This is because the Friday Abhishekam extends the temple schedule, and the Lord is put to sleep earlier at 10:30 PM instead of the usual 1:30 AM.
What You Receive After the Seva
Unlike other sevas, Ekantha Seva does not specify particular prasadam (holy offering) in the official TTD list.
However, devotees who participate in this seva receive:
- Spiritual blessing of witnessing the Lord’s bedtime ritual
- Peace of mind from the serene atmosphere
- Divine grace for attending the final seva of the day
- Good fortune as this is considered a very auspicious seva
Some sources mention that devotees may receive basic prasadam like laddu or vada, but this is not officially confirmed in the TTD seva list.
